Villa Aquazure: An Eclectic Beach Cottage at the Water’s Edge

An original 1980s footprint gives this eclectic Providenciales villa an unusually close relationship with the shoreline.

Of the villas I photographed throughout Providenciales, Aquazure had one of the most unusual relationships with the water.

The property occupies the footprint of a home originally constructed in the 1980s, before today’s shoreline setback requirements. As a result, the villa sits exceptionally close to the sea—the deck gives way to sand, with turquoise water beginning only steps beyond.

That proximity is ultimately what defines the architecture.

Rather than the polished minimalism found in many newer villas, Aquazure feels collected and eclectic. Natural textures, warm neutrals and unexpected furnishings give the interiors a more relaxed character, while large openings continually bring the coastline into view.

The property is divided between a main house and separate guest house, creating a series of smaller structures and outdoor spaces connected by tropical landscaping. Pathways wind beneath palms, outdoor showers disappear into the foliage, and the water remains visible throughout much of the property.

Aquazure also has an unexpected Nashville connection: the villa was formerly owned by country music artist Jason Aldean.

But what makes the property memorable is less about its history than its setting. New construction can replicate contemporary finishes, expansive glass and dramatic pools. What is much harder to recreate is an established footprint sitting this close to the shoreline.

At Aquazure, the ocean is not simply the view.

It feels like part of the architecture.
